MM Monster Art

I thought maybe there could be a thread to show off monster artwork for MM. Even if it goes unused, it could be fun to see~ So anyone who draws up a monster can post it here.

This is my monster, Blood Bloom. The flowers are parasites.



Information:
Blood Bloom walks similarly to a gorilla, lifting up his front arms and dragging them forward. He moves rather slowly like this, but can charge by digging his claws into the ground and throwing himself forward in a sprint-like manner. His claws also allow him to climb, albeit rather clumsily.

However, his arms are sluggish when he moves to swing his claws at a target, so he normally only swipes at foes when he is stationary. When he's charging or turning he'll use his sharp teeth and long neck to try and bite his target. His tail is relatively weak, mostly for balancing out his heavy arms and torso, but it can work for tripping or pushing someone aside. He can't toss them across a room with a tail whip, but he can get someone away from him.

The flowers on his body, primarily the back, can let out a pollen that temporarily paralyzes victims. These pollen bursts can only be used once every few days, and trauma, such as being wounded, will snap the target out of the paralysis.

Bloom is roughly 8 feet tall with his head and neck up straight. This height varies a lot while the creature moves, but it generally keeps an imposing manner about it, despite the parasitic flowers growing throughout its body. The flowers themselves, feasting on blood instead of water, tend to have very dulled shades of color, very rarely looking as vibrant as a proper flower.




And this is Keo meeting Blood Bloom. xD I got seriously bored, sorry. A quick sketch, this won't be finished because there are so many mistakes. No, Bloom cannot talk. This was just boredom.

Yeah, thats just the kind of thing to have faerie boy for dinner.

Ps. you mind me calling Blood Bloom 'Bloomy' from now on? =P I'm sorry but I can't get it out of my head!

Aaaalmost done my second monster. But since the party's starting, I figure I'll get it out there. The sketch will be replaced when I finish. The little thing on the far right is an example that the eyes on the wings aren't flat.

Wisp Moth.


Wisp Moths are the size of a large moth, just slightly bigger than a balled fist. The most striking parts of their bodies are the pale blue ghost-fire that engulfs the wings and the "eyeballs" mimicked on the wings. The fire, being only ghost-fire, is harmless to humans, only creating a strong warmth sensation when it's close or touching skin. It's unknown if the eyeballs can actually see, but they seem to move in any direction within the wings, independently of one another, and tend to lock-on to people nearby.

They are rather harmless physically, but seem to hold some level of intelligence, as well as a hive-mind, as they become smarter and trickier in swarms. A single Moth might try to attract someone's attention to lead them deeper into the forest, but a swarm will form a line that walks the person into a pit of quicksand, or get the attention of more hostile monsters and taunt them into getting closer to the Moths' targets. If angered, they may swarm around someone and use their lights to blind or distract the person until they walk into harm's way.

Once one learns to never trust the Moths, and avoid their attention as much as possible, they become completely harmless. Like normal Moths, they are extremely attracted to strong lights and flames, other then their own on their. In an uncharacteristically stupid move, they will often fly directly into flames or bug-zappers. Upon death, they burst into flame and end up as a pile of ashes on the ground.

Felt better and decided to draw. Came up with a new monster. The drawing isn't finished, I'm working on the lines now. But this is all for right now.


Forest Siren. It's a sort of cross between Alraunes and Sirens.

They are beautiful creatures with the upper body of a woman, and a lower body that seems to be made of plants. It lures unsuspecting victims into the forest, then uses the trees, vines and plants to kill them, and then... it feeds on the corpse.

The Sirens are responsible for the other-wise harmless plants to suddenly "come to life" and attack people, as they can give nearby plants the power to move and attack, but only while following the Siren's will. Other than this, the Sirens are very frail creatures, easily destroyed from physical harm or by being set on fire. They do not bleed, but will still die of injury if it goes untreated. They will not die of hunger, but definitely have a taste for human flesh.

They're known for their beautiful singing voices that can place people into a trance-like state to get them close, but the song's spell breaks once the Siren is seen. After this, it's the ethereal appearance that does the work and allows them to lead their victim into the forest. Because they only appear as women, they have a hard time luring in people who aren't attracted to women. Doesn't mean they can't, it just makes them easier to resist once the person sees them.

Other than singing, Sirens don't ever seem to speak. They will never show their teeth to a victim, as it reveals the shark-like teeth they use to dig into victims, and such a sight can help people snap out of their trance.
