Spitter Bat
One of the more docile creatures in Burglinde, the Spitter Bat is quite a wonder to behold, especially in mid-flight. Curious in nature, the Spitter bat has been known to, unlike some of the other creatures that inhabit the treacherous undergrowth of Burglinde, approach people and travellers in a friendly manner, usually looking for food or something close to that. Despite it's curious nature though, the Spitter Bat is anything but a push over, with those hunting it soon finding out that it can easily hold its own against some of the other creatures that inhabit the forest.
Strengths:
-As its name suggests, the Spitter bat is capable of firing a rather painful irritant from its mouth, one that can stop a would be predator dead in its track. No one knows what the irritant contains, but it is known to cause a severe rash in humans
-The Spitter bat is capable of reaching great speeds while flying, the general consensus among those who have saw them in action being that they are quite dexterous in the air
- Like all bats, The Spitter bat of Burglinde has exceptional hearing, allowing it to fly with great ease through the forest undergrowth at night, as well as avoid any predators that may be lurking in the dark .
Weaknesses:
-Like many types of bats, the spitter bat has rather weak wings, with the membrane that makes up the wing being quite flimsy. So if their wings are damaged, it could mean the end for the docile creature.
-Loud noises are known to cause a great deal of disorientation in the spitter bat, it's echolocation being messed up as a result of said loud noise.
-The curious nature of the Spitter Bat has been known to lead it into danger on multiple occasions, said danger usually being the many predators of Burglinde.
Appearance:
When it comes to appearance, the Spitter Bat most closely resembles the Indian Flying Fox bat, albeit with a bigger frame and bigger wing span, with some members of the species reportedly having a wingspan of up to 8ft in length.
Extra:
-The spitter bat has a diet that focuses mostly on the consumption of insects, with many of the insects around Burglinde providing ample nutrition for the bat. The bat has however, on the odd occasion, been known to enjoy fruit, whether it be apples, mangos or anything else that catches its eye.
