Weird Allergies [Keo & Mrs. Nellis]

Keoki was glad to have found a room quickly. It was right near the roof, so she could keep an eye on the moon, but for now, she was focused on her hand. It was shaking already, her fingertips reddened, burned. Not severely, but enough to hurt. She didn't realize that the silverware was actually silver until it was already digging into her skin.

Thankfully, she brought a kit for times like these, sanitizing the burns and binding her fingers up in bandages before slipping a pair of gloves over her hands to hide the injury... Now it was just the matter of making arrangements about this. Packing her things back up, she checked out in the hall, not seeing anyone out at the time, and made her way downstairs to find Mrs. Nellis. Probably near the kitchen? She moved to go check, "Excuse me? Mrs. Nellis?"

Mrs Nellis was just done putting the last plate dish washer when Keoki came in.
"Hello dear," she said with a slightly worried face, assuming the reason Keoki came to see her so soon already was because something wasn't right, "is something the matter? Couldn't you find a nice room?"

"Oh, no, I found a room that's just fine. Um. It's about the eating arrangements, actually," she started, messing with the glove over her right hand, "Can you keep something between us? I, just, really don't like this. Because... it kinda makes me stick out, a lot," she paused again then finally asked just to make sure, "Does the silverware have real silver in it?"

Mrs Nellis blinked at that question. "Uhr, yes it does, the whole set of forks, knives and spoons is a family heirloom. Why do you ask?" she asked confused as she put the dish washer on. The only reason she could think of that Keoki would care about that was because she might want to steal it but she didn't believe the young woman would do something like that so she was seriously drawing a blank here.

She plucked off the one glove, showing the white bandages over her fingers, "I'm allergic to silver. Hah, I just, kinda ignored it earlier... I don't really like people to know, out in the open and all. It's just embarrassing," she explained, blushing a little, because she was a little embarrassed about it all. She was only allergic because she wasn't entirely human anymore... of course that's nothing she'd ever say out loud, so allergy had to work. "It creates a burning sensation on my skin. Leaves it really red and stinging," she added, just to explain a bit more.

Mrs Nellis let out a little gasp when Keoki showed her bandaged fingers. "O my, but you don't have to be ashamed of something like that," she told her with a concerned face after Keoki explained, "it's not your fault after all. Do you need anything for on your hands now? I'm not sure if I have anything for silver allergies - my, I didn't even know something like it existed! Do you have your own medication for it? O dear Keoki, you should've just told be from the beginning, it's nothing to be embaressed about and no reason to get hurt. O, o, oh!" She immediatly started rambling on again as the sight of Keoki being hurt upset her and she had to concentrate for a moment to stay on relevant things and not repeat things over and over.
Finally she let out a sigh to calm her tongue and in a normal phase told her: "I've still got some disposable cutler - do you mind using that until I buy you some hard plastic ones?"

Ahhh, of course this would happen, "It's fine, Mrs. Nellis. I'm used to it, and it's not like on the average day I'll be exposed to lots of the stuff. It only affects me when I touch it too, so I just didn't know is all." When she went on to talk about some plastic ware, that sounded fine for the time being, "Yes, that would work perfectly. This weekend I can just go pick up some metal stuff for myself. I already have to go out, and I'll be the only one using it, probably, so I might as well buy it myself." After she finished, she slipped the glove back on, just in case anyone else came around.

Mrs Nellis nodded; "ok well, I suppose you know whats best for you... Well, then I'll be sure to lay out some plastic forks when I'm setting the table later on," she said with a friendly smile, "don't you worry about that. And if there's anything else, just let me know ok? I can keep a secret," she added with a wink. "O and one more thing dear? Please just call me Ceceile."

"Thank you," she nodded with a smile, glad that Mrs. Nellis was being so understanding about it. Not that it made it any less scary, the idea of her little "allergy" getting out, "And thanks again, I really appreciate this, Ceceile." It was a little odd saying the name informally, but, she asked. "Ah, I guess I should get going. You're probably busy."

Ceceile smiled warmly at her: "well yes I'm about to start making dinner. And I'm sure you've some unpacking left to do right?"
She waved Keoki goodbye with a wooden spoon as the young woman left the kitchen, then started working her culinairy wonders.
