First day, first date (07-10-2011) [Keoki & Aemilio]

"Hahah, well it's very sweet of you. I'm used to much less an effort on dates, so it's nice," she replied, usually just expecting something plain like a lunch date. The fact that Aemilio actually wanted to impress her just made it seem nicer.

"Oh, a toast? That's right," she laughed, having forgotten as well. She couldn't really think of anything eloquent, she wasn't good with words unless it was twisting around her background story, "I'm not quite sure what to say, why don't you go instead?"

"Hmm, okay let me think," Aemilio said already holding his glass up, ready for a toast.
"To our first evening here at Meinior... to our first date..." he looked her in the eyes and smiled warmly at her "... and to the beautiful lady I'm sharing them with."
Then he carefully toasted his glass to hers, next put his arm around her so they'd be entangled when they'd take a zip.

Keoki raised her glass as well, leaning in slightly and looking back at him when he started to speak, making eye contact. She did end up blushing again, just slight, at the beautiful comment. Then she followed his lead, toasting and moving her arm around to take a sip. She had to admit, it was more romantic than she expected for the date to go, but she couldn't let that get the better of her yet. "Just how much of this did you have planned out?" she asked curiously, because it seemed to work well.

After taking the so manieth ini-mini zip from his glass (which was still nearly as full as when it'd just been filled) Aemilio grinned at Keoki's question: "now if I tell you that I'll ruin the magic," he said teasingly. Then a thought seemed to pop up into his head and his grin turned a little naughty.
"Ok if I tell you that, you promise you'll anwser one question of mine honestly?" he asked with a twinkle in his eye.

"Aw," Keoki pretended to pout a little as she eased back to her seat and finished off her own glass, not saying anything about Aemilio's since she recalled that he didn't like to drink. And then, he made a proposal that worried her. One question honestly? Did he think she was lying, or just making sure she told the truth on this one?

He couldn't possibly know to ask anything about her humanity, or partial lack there-of, so it couldn't really hurt. She'd have nothing to worry about. Glancing at her glass for a second, then looking back up to him, she responded, "Alright then... what's your question?"

Aemilio continued to grin when Keoki gave him her ok but his expression softened when a silence fell.
"Fine then," he said in a soft voice, his warm brown eyes turning to his knees for just a moment before they looked straight into hers, a small blush filled his cheecks and he asked his question: "what would you do, if I would try to kiss you?"

"Huh...?" That... was not the question she was expecting. She looked down nervously, not entirely sure what to answer. She still didn't want to worry about any attachments, but, Aemilio had made quite an effort here. "I, um, I guess... I wouldn't try to stop you. If you tried," she replied, still feeling a bit too shy to look at him directly, even though she figured he was watching her. It did seem like there was a small smile on her face, aside from the blush.

Aemilio smilde when he Keoki gave her anwser; not that much because of what she said as because of the cute, blushing shy way she said it in.
"Ok thanks," he replied in a chuckle, deciding not to inform her of how adorable she looked when she blushed. "I have to admit, I didn't expect you to actually tell the truth," he went on with a pleasently surprised smile.
"So then, do you still want to know how much planning went into this evening?"

"Hah, so I should have lied instead?" She was joking, but it may have saved her from getting embarrassed again. She was a little surprised that she's actually said that, herself, but calmed down a bit and looked back to him when he asked if she still wanted to know, "And yes, I'm still a bit curious." She knew it couldn't be that much since it'd only been a day, but the answer could still be interesting, and she might as well hear something after what she said.

"Well, if you would've lied I could lie now too," he said with a grin, "now I'm going to have to tell you the whole amazing truth and blow your mind. O but uhm, before that... would you like to have my glass as well?" he asked pushing his practically full glass an inch closer to her.

"Oh, now that sounds interesting" she replied, wanting to see just what he meant by that. Of course, he didn't finish his glass though. She expected that, picking his glass up after he offered, "And sure. Though is there any particular reason why you don't drink? Or have you just never been fond of it?" She downed a bit of the champagne, but didn't go to drink it too quickly at risk of just looking bad.

Aemilio gladly gave his glass up to Keoki - he was less eager about explaining why. Well of course he wasn't going to tell the whole truth.
"I don't know why but I just don't react well to alcohol. Or actually, it's more the opposite: my body reacts a bit too well - after just that one glass of champagne I'd be halfway to drunk already."

He left it at that and continued with his planning story, by this robbing Keoki from her oppertunity to ask more about his drinking-habbits.

"It all started when we were in the sweets store in Penrose. I brought a small bottle of champagne for the owners of Meinior along with my other luggage - y'know, as a nice, polite way to say hello - but there I figured I'd much rather save the champagne for this and give mrs Nellis some chocolates instead.
So then I went to give her the chocolates and she politely refused, saying I should save them for a special lady. So - after she stopped talking for a moment to breathe - I told her about our date and she immediatly suggested we'd do it here, on the roof, and that she'd make sure we wouldn't be disturbed." He let out a chuckle at the memory of how excited mrs Nellis had been when she learned of the date.
"Anyway, she was glad to accomodate us in any way we'd like. So I could just take the pillows, the nice tablecloth, the bucket of ice for the champagne, the glasses, everything."

He fell silent for a moment, then said to himself as well as her: "I must've looked a lot better when you thought I arranged all this by myself instead of just scraping it all together."

Keo just nodded when he explained the alcohol, it was a simple enough story. The explanation about the date was more amusing, of course Mrs. Nellis would have gotten herself involved as soon as she heard, "No, it's pretty sensible actually. I was kinda wondering why you'd pick a place like this when someone else could interrupt, but with Mrs. Nellis in on it, it works out well."

But he seemed a bit disappointed by the end of the story, "It's no less impressive, trust me. Plus it must have been something to plan this out with Mrs. Nellis. I assume she did most of the talking, huh?" She ended up laughing at the thought, knowing what a talker she could be, in addition to what kind of excitement she must have worked up over the idea of helping set up a date.

After a small groan Aemilio laughed as well. The groan upon remembering how exhausted he was after his talk with mrs Nellis but the laugh when Keoki started to laugh - her laughter was contagious.
"Well, it was a little like letting a 5 yearold loose in a toy store, with how enthusiastic she was," he confirmed with a grin. Then he overdramatically joked: "o the horror I've gone through to get you this date...!"
He then turned his eyes to the orange sun in the distance, noticing it wouldn't take much longer now before it would disappear from sight completely and it would get dark. He hadn't really planned that far ahead. (or had he? O_O =P )

"I swear," he said returning to the subject of mrs Nellis, "sweet as the woman may be, she..." he didn't finish the sentence, not wanting to speak ill of the landlady and guessing Keoki could fill in the missing part of his sentence.

"Oh yeah, you poor thing," she replied to his dramatized comment, staying a bit giggly with that. His next comment was perfectly relatable, but she only nodded, since it would be a little rude continue on the subject of Mrs. Nellis's chattiness. She followed his eyes over to the horizon and noticed the sun setting.

"Wonder how it looks in a place like this?" she asked, mostly thinking aloud about the sunset, as she put the glass down and stood up to go over to the railing. Keoki kept her eyes over at the horizon, but spoke up this time, "I'm too used to the city skyline... it looks so different with nothing but trees." She wondered for a second if this was closer to how it looked back in her home town, just a rural area, with just as many trees as houses instead of nothing but towering buildings. But it was a little hard to remember considering that was four years ago. It was a bit of a sad thought, but she didn't bother mentioning it.

"But... different in a good way right?" Aemilio checked with a small smile as he followed her to the side of the terrace. Like Keoki he had his hands on the railing but unlike her his eyes weren't pin-pointed at the fading sun; instead he was lookning at the beautiful blonde next to him.
"Have you always lived in big cities then?" he asked her, understanding that if she had, this mansion in the middle of nowhere might feel a little lke being on a different planet.

"Yeah, in a good way, it looks beautiful," she replied with a smile. When he asked about the cities, she looked back to him, "Well, not always. The town I grew up in was a small place. By no means remote, but there were more trees than I've seen since... well. Until I got here, haha. Since I left home I've stuck to cities. It takes a lot of work to stick out there, so I liked it better," though she didn't explain why she wanted to stay out of people's view. He would never believe it anyhow, so she glanced back at the horizon, to see the colors slowly darkening as she asked "What's it like back home for you?"

"I lived in a reasonably small town," he said with a smile as he thought back of his hometown, "and our house was a little outside the centre on a hill and you can see the sea from the balcony so... I could always enjoy a nice view during dusk time there...
But I went to highschool in a nearby city so I know what you mean yeah, a sunset looks different in a city, a lot less-" he suddenly stopped once a part of what she said really reached his brain and called forth a lot of questionmarks; "what do you mean? That you don't like sticking out or that you tried twice as hard to stick out whenever you're in a big place?" he asked, not really understanding.

She listened intently as he described his home, a view of the sea, now that was a lovely picture. But she didn't get a chance to comment on it before he switched from his description over to a question about her previous statement.

"I meant that I don't like to stick out. It's too much trouble. Somewhere small, people start to recognize and get to know you, they ask questions when you leave or try to stay in touch," it wasn't until she finished that she realized that may have sounded worse than she intended, "I don't like having people I'll miss when I leave, that's all." Maybe not a great recovery... she just decided to stop talking and kept her eyes over by the forest.

Aemilio frowned at her story; like Keoki had feared, it did come off a bit... negative. Smiling at her a little uncertainly he asked: "but you're going to be here for some time right?" then adding a playful grin: "I'd be really hurt if you ended up not missing me just a tiny little bit after be go our seperate ways. "

She nodded, "Yeah, I'll be around for a decent while this time... as for missing you," she smirked at that, "Well, I guess you're proving a bit memorable. You'll have to forgive for being a little stuck in my ways though." In fact, she was already rather scared about how this was all going.

At the rate this was going, she would end up missing him. And as much as she hated that thought, Keoki was enjoying her time with him. In the end, though, they'd both be heading back home, and hell, they weren't even close to each other. She sighed slightly, "It's a little hard for me to, well, care about people. I guess. Anna's the only person I've ever kept in touch with. How sad is that?"

Aemilio grinned when Keoki said he proved a bit memorable but didn't go into it more with a cocky joke. Instead he listened to the rest of what she had to say and his expression turned more serious.
He wasn't sure what to say when she brought up how sad it was that Anna was the only person in her life she actually kept contact with, so instead of talking he just put his hand on her shoulder and smiled at her.
"Hey Keoki?" he asked in a warm tone, "I know it's hard for you to care about people... mainly because you told me just now," he added dryly for some comic relief before he continued in the same tone as before: "so maybe you don't want to hear this but still I really want to tell you... I like you. And I care for you too."

Keoki was actually a little stunned to hear something like that. But he seemed honest, and maybe that was what made it a bit shocking, "One day... and you can say that? That's pretty crazy in my mind. Please don't take that the wrong way," she leaned onto railing a bit further.

"I wouldn't mind trying, to see if I can say the same. But you did pick the wrong girl if you wanted something easy, you should know that much," she warned him in a playful tone. But she spoke a bit quieter after that, "This was nice, though. So unless you'd rather find a girl that'll take to you quicker, I wouldn't mind doing something like this again."

"O uhr, I- I didn't mean..." Aemilio stammered a little embarassed, an uneasy laugh between his words, "don't get me wrong, I'm not declaring my undying love for you or anything - I just said I like you!"
He let out a sigh to calm himself down and a friendly smile returned to his face; "and I do like you and I care about you. Not getting-down-on-one-knee liking and caring," he clarified with a chuckle, "but friend liking and caring, yeah."

He couldn't help but laugh a little as she put the time-challange (of her saying she liked and cared back) in front of her. "First of all," he said mimicking her playful tone and topping it off with a matching expression, "I don't want easy, I like a little challange. And secondly," he returned to his normal voice, "I'm sure you're worth the wait."
At that he put his arm (the one with the hand that he'd rested on her shoulder before) around Keoki for a brief, loose one-arm hug.
"Is that ok?"

She couldn't help but laugh at that reaction, "I wasn't alluding at that either, I just meant I can't say I care for someone in just a or two day. A friend, for me, is just someone I'll see and hang out with occasionally until I decide to move on. I wouldn't say I care for my friends... harsh as that sounds. I'll help them and be friendly, but I won't miss them," she explained, mostly so he didn't have to worry so much. Though she had to admit, his reaction had been adorable.

But she did feel better when he said he could wait, at least he hadn't been fickle and just decided to look elsewhere. And as stupid as it seemed to her, it felt nice when he just barely hugged her, "Yeah, I think that will work... it'll be interesting, anyhow. I think I might look forward to spending my time here."
